Priorities set in the Danish Regions' budget agreements for 2025
In September 2024, it was announced by the Danish Regions (Danske Regioner) that according to the budget agreements for 2025, all regions have prioritized money to strengthen the local healthcare system, including investments in general practice. In total, the regions' budget agreements have set aside 400 million DKK for the local health service, of which just over 300 million DKK is for general and specialist practices, while the rest is earmarked for other initiatives to strengthen medical coverage and for several initiatives to bring health services and treatment closer to citizens.
In 2025, the regions will also prioritize funds to ensure a robust hospital system and a continued high level of activity. This includes funds for activity in hospitals, further training of more doctors, and strengthening the digitalization of the healthcare system, including the operation, service, and maintenance of existing IT systems.
